Boater shook up by storms
As Floridians took cover and prepared for Tropical Storm Fay, Grand Strand residents were struck by a slow-moving but fierce bout of showers that sent at least one man to the hospital.

A man was with friends returning a boat to Myrtle Beach Water Sports on Dick Pond Road when lightning struck the water right next to him Sunday afternoon, Horry County Fire Rescue spokesman Todd Cartner said.

The man was taken to the hospital as a precaution, Cartner said, though he was walking around and talking afterward, said Martha Flom, who works at Myrtle Beach Water Sports.
